Laser Removal Paint

The laser paint removal process generally involves the usage of a laser beam machine which is pulsed directly onto the wood or metal surface with a specific energy density. the energy density is usually kept higher than the paint ablation threshold. but it’s lower than the actual substrate ablation threshold on which it’s used.. Removal of paint laser cleaning is often used for partial or complete removal of paint layers. depending on the settings of the laser cleaning device, stripping is possible to the bare surface or only a thin top layer can be removed.. Laser coating removal is an ablative process that can be applied to a variety of substrates, including metal, composites, plastics, and glass. laser energy is focused onto the surface and is absorbed into the coating, resulting in decomposition and removal of the coating and causing only a minimal increase in substrate temperature..

The u.s. federal aviation administration has endorsed the use of lasertronics as the only laser coating removal system for all aluminum aircraft. us dod maintenance excellence award the office of the secretary of defense awarded lasertronics the 2009 maintenance excellence medal for contributions to the automatic rotor blade stripping system at. The approximate formula for laser ablation removal of most paint and other coatings is: strip rate in square feet per minute = 2 x (laser power in kw) / (coating thickness in mils) where one mil = .001” therefore a q-switched laser with an average pulsed power of 400w strips at 0.80 ft 2 per minute.. Laser paint stripping is finally emerging as a credible, economical, and "green" alternative. background. more than 35 years ago, the us air force (usaf) logistics command began to investigate alternative solutions to chemical and mechanical paint removal from military aircraft. the list of negatives concerning chemical depainting is long.
